Marine Jet Ski Accident - Unresponsive Female Visitor Pronounced Dead [Updated]

At about 11:05am today (Monday) police and other first responders attended a report of an unresponsive female who fell off of a Jet Ski whilst on a Jet Ski tour in the area of Cambridge Beaches in Sandys.

Details are still emerging but it appears that a 62 year old female cruise ship visitor apparently fell from her Jet Ski and into the water, losing consciousness. CPR was performed as she was taken via a boat to the hospital, where the 62 year old Massachusetts woman was later pronounced dead.

No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.

Update: Tuesday, June 5thThe Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 62 year old American cruise ship visitor Yvonne Aites and extends sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Ms. Aites, from Massachusetts, apparently fell off of a Jet Ski into the water near Cambridge Beaches, Sandys parish Monday morning (June 4th) during a Jet Ski tour and became unconscious.

Despite lifesaving efforts on the water which continued as she was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial hospital via ambulance, Ms. Aites was later pronounced dead.

A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist the deceased’s loved ones at this difficult time.

An autopsy has been completed and the results confirm the cause of death as drowning.
