Around 4:55pm Tuesday, November 6th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle car crash on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Church Road.

It now appears that the car involved was being driven in the eastbound lane of Middle Road (in the vicinity of Five Star Island) when it collided with a roadside stone wall.

The driver, said to be a 29 year old Sandys parish man, was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of his injuries, which were initially described as potentially serious.

However, at last check this morning (November 7th) the 29 year old man was recovering in stable condition on a general ward.

There were no other injuries reported – although it is believed that there were two other men in the vehicle when the crash occurred.

Area traffic diversions were in effect for approximately three hours while the scene was processed.

Inquiries continue and any witnesses or persons with relevant information are asked to call Constable Alex Shreeve on the main police telephone number 295-0011.
