Man Arrested After Boat Runs Aground Near Cobbler’s Cut

Around 4am today (May 10th) marine police responded to a maritime distress call regarding a boat that had run aground.

The powerboat involved was located on the rocks near Cobbler’s Cut, in waters off Spanish Point Pembroke, with two men aboard.

The men – said to be a 38 year old Pembroke man and a 43 year old man – were not hurt.

Both were taken on to the attending police vessel and transported to safety.

The 38 year old man was later arrested on suspicion of piloting or being at the helm of a boat while impaired.

He was subsequently released on police bail pending further inquiries and a court appearance is anticipated in due course.
