Industrial Accident in St. George's

Shortly after 8:00 a.m. today, Monday 22nd March, 2021, police attended a report of an industrial accident in the area of the St. Regis Hotel property in St. George’s.

Reports are a crane was being moved along nearby Barry Road when a mechanical failure occurred, causing it to topple over down an embankment and onto the property.

The crane landed on its side, with the operator trapped inside.

Bermuda Fire and Rescue personnel assisted in extracting the operator, who sustained a non-life threatening leg injury, for which he received attention at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and discharged.

No one else was injured in the incident.

A police Traffic Collision Investigator along with a government Health and Safety Officer attended the scene and an investigation into the incident has begun.
