Incident on Happy Valley Road, Pembroke

Around 8:30am today (Wednesday, November 15th) police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel and ambulance personnel responded to a report of a man barricaded inside the old Prison Headquarters building on Happy Valley Road in Pembroke.
Representatives from Government social services also attended the scene.
The man in question, believed to be 68 years old, was apparently in possession of a noxious substance and refused to leave the premises. As a result, police officers cordoned off the area as a precaution.
The individual was later taken into police custody without incident and inquiries continue by police as well as the relevant Government social service agencies.
The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the area residents of Happy Valley Road for their patience and cooperation.
