The Bermuda Police Service is able to report that a firearm and several rounds of ammunition were recovered during an operation this past weekend.

The operation involved several units within the BPS, with warrants executed at multiple locations in the central parishes, in relation to a number of ongoing investigations

It was during the execution of a warrant at a property on Elliot Street, Pembroke, that the firearm and ammunition were recovered. The firearm is to be forensically examined to determine whether it may have been used in any gun related crimes locally.

Two suspects, a 28-year-old male and a 26-year-old male were subsequently arrested in connection with the recovery of these items. However, that have both been granted police bail, pending further enquiries.

A motorcycle and other items belonging to the suspects were also seized.

Detective Superintendent Nicholas Pedro, praised the officers from the Intelligence, Tactical, Gang, and Serious Crime units, for the professional manner in which they carried out their duties during this initiative which was successful in getting a firearm and ammunition off the streets and reducing the threat posed to the safety and wellbeing of the island’s residents, from those seemingly bent on engaging in criminal activity.
