Driver Recovering in Hospital After Van Overturns in Hamilton Parish

Around 4:40pm Thursday, November 15th police and Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel were dispatched to a reported single vehicle crash on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Radnor Estate Road.

It now appears that a van driven in the eastbound lane of North Shore Road struck and damaged a wall then overturned, ending up on its side. At first a car was thought to have been involved.

Apparently the driver, said to be a 57 year old St. George’s man, had to be extracted from the damaged vehicle and was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

At last check this morning (November 16th) he was recovering in stable condition on a general ward. There were no other injuries reported.

Traffic delays occurred in the area for approximately an hour. The damaged van was later towed away.

Upcoming Road Sobriety Checkpoints in Five Parishes

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that the next series of road sobriety checkpoints (as specified in the Official Gazette Notice Thursday, November 15th) will be conducted starting Thursday, November 22nd.

The checkpoints will be in effect in Hamilton parish, Devonshire, Pembroke, Paget and Southampton on Thursday, November 22nd, Friday, November 23rd, Saturday, November 24th and Sunday, November 25th.
