The Traffic Initiative commenced today, Friday, October 20, 2006. There were several tickets issued for a variety of offences. Below is a list of the tickets issued this morning.

Burglary

At 10:15am on Wednesday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Bridge Street, St. George's business. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 6pm on Tuesday and 8am on Wednesday, an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises. The culprit stole $200 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Bermuda Police Service Road Safety Initiative

Since 1999, 68 people have lost their lives on Bermuda’s roads and hundreds have been seriously injured as a result of serious road traffic collisions.  In the past four days, 2 teenage young men were involved in serious collisions and are now in the hospital recuperating from what can only be described as life changing injuries. Just this past weekend there were 27 collisions and yesterday there were 9 collisions with 5 resulting in injury.

Burglary

At 6:20pm on Monday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Mount Hill, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 8:15am and 5pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while she was away from the premises. The culprit stole U.S. $1,300 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
