Burglary

At 5:50 this morning, Police attended a reported burglary at a St. Georges guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants, who are visitors to the island. The couple stated that sometime between midnight and 5am today, an unknown culprit gained entry into their cottage. The culprit stole a quantity of jewelry, cash and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Vehicle Fire

At 4:05 this morning, Police received a report of a vehicle on fire at Bakery Lane in Pembroke. Officers arrived at the scene a short time later and observed three vehicles ablaze. The two cars and an auxiliary cycle were extensively damaged as a result. The Bermuda Fire Service attended and extinguished the fire. There were no reported injuries.

Burglary

At 3:35pm on Monday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Georges Bay Lane, Sandys parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that around 2:45pm that day she drove into her yard and observed two men running from her property, one carrying a laptop computer.

LIVESCAN

The Bermuda Police Service is pleased to announce the introduction of a new electronic system of taking fingerprints and photographs from persons in Police custody arrested for criminal offences. The system known as ‘LIVESCAN’ has been installed in two Police stations with a third due for installation in Spring 2008. This new method scans the fingerprints and palm prints using an electronic scanning device, replacing the conventional method of using an ink pad, roller and paper based forms.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 2 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 9 reported burglaries. There were also 15 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 14 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 6 vehicles reported taken without their owners consent.

At 10:30am on Thursday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Freeport Road, Sandys parish business. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 6:30pm on Wednesday and 9:10am on Thursday, an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
