March 15 - Weekend Report

Burglary - Around 5:10pm on Friday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Turtle Place, Southampton residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 11am and 4:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a 32” Samsung flat screen TV and a Dell laptop computer. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Attempted Sexual Assault & Traffic Advisory

An investigation is ongoing into an attempted sexual assault which occurred on Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke around 4am on Saturday, February 28th 2009. A 20 year old Pembroke man was arrested in connection with the incident shortly afterwards. He was subsequently released on Police bail. Police are now making a public appeal for anyone who may have seen anything in the Pitts Bay Road area near Smatt’s Cycles around 4am Saturday February 28th or anyone with any information about this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Attempted Robbery - At 6:25pm on Thursday, Police received a report of an attempted robbery at the junction of Union Street & North Street in Pembroke. It appears that a taxi traveling on Brunswick Street was flagged down by two unknown men. The two men entered the taxi and not long into the journey began demanding money from the taxi driver, a 59 year old Hamilton parish man, with one of the men brandishing a weapon. However, the taxi driver did not comply with the suspects’ demands and the men eventually exited the taxi at the junction of Union Street & North Street empty handed. The taxi driver was not injured.

It appears that a taxi traveling on Brunswick Street was flagged down by two unknown men. The two men entered the taxi and not long into the journey began demanding money from the taxi driver, a 59 year old Hamilton parish man, with one of the men brandishing a weapon. However, the taxi driver did not comply with the suspects’ demands and the men eventually exited the taxi at the junction of Union Street & North Street empty handed. The taxi driver was not injured. A short time later, Police arrested four men at a Pembroke residence in connection with this incident. Inquiries are ongoing.

Missing Person

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 55 year old St. Claire McDonald Augustus. Mr. Augustus, who is of no fixed abode, was last seen on Thursday, February 26th 2009 at Friswells Hill in Devonshire. He is known to frequent the Salvation Army on North Street in Pembroke and was also sleeping in a container in that area. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 55 year old St. Claire McDonald Augustus is encouraged to contact the Child Victims Unit on 295-0011.

March 12 - Daily Report

Robbery - At 8:30pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported robbery in the City Hall car park in the City of Hamilton. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 23 year old Hamilton parish man, who stated that an unknown man approached him and brandished a weapon before taking the Hamilton parish man’s wallet and BlackBerry cellular phone. The offender then made good his escape on foot headed towards Cedar Avenue. The victim was not injured. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’ tall wearing a dark coloured hooded top and dark coloured ‘track’ pants. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
